“You are the people who greatly contributed to intellectual, human resources, scientific-research achievement and raising awareness about Batumi Botanical Garden”. The fact that today 105-ytear old Batumi Botanical Garden is a visiting card of our country and one of the leading one is the deserve and merit of each worker of the Garden – stated director of the Garden Mr. Irakli Archaia at the meeting with former staff of the Garden held under his initiative at the Administrative Building of the Garden.

Irakli Archaia congratulated invited guests on the coming New Year and Christmas and noted that “Similar meetings will have a regular character, which will further increase involvement of each former employees of the garden in the daily life of the garden, as well as defining its rhythm and realization of future plans”.

Director of the Garden talked about the projectssuccessfully implemented during the current year, particularly highlighting construction of Goderdzi Alpine Garden, in which the support from Ajara Government and Batumi City Hall, as well as financial contribution by the Donor Organizations are to be mentioned. “If not qualification of the employees of the Garden, their experience, competence, sense of high responsibility, current achievements of the Garden, today’s achievements of the Garden would not have been so significant. I am convinced that in several years term Goderdzi Alpine Garden will be formed into a real Alpine Garden and relevantly will respond to the existing challenges in this direction”, noted Irakli Archaia. He also made statement upon holding an International Congress of Alpine and Arctic Gardens at Batumi Botanical Garden in the future.

The Director also emphasized the importance of prospective plans and projects of the Botanical Garden, necessity of expanding International links and sharing their experience and practical introduction into the activity of the Garden. He also noted that primary challenge of the Garden together with scientific-research direction is to form a tourist infrastructure, educational-cognitive activity and culture for relaxation. He also mentioned about launching work on strategic vision and development strategy documentof the garden, which will be developed in the nearest future with the help of foreign specialists and experts.

The meeting which was led in a friendly atmosphere was finished with the mood that unity of all generation of the Botanical Garden will result in successful present and bright future of the Garden.

At the end of the meeting, the Director of the Garden granted former employees of the Garden with symbolic gifts of wine and sweets.
