Today, the representative of Tbilisi Office of Turkish International Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) at the Prime Minister’s Administration of the Republic of Turkey Mr. Husein Shanli paid an official visit to Batumi Botanical Garden, who granted Batumi Botanical Garden with 50 liter herbicide to be used for struggling against the weeds and working tools: petrol-operated scythes – 30 units, petrol-operated saw, garden scissors 100 units.

At the meeting held in the Garden Administration, Director of the Garden Mr. Irakli Archaia and the Representative of the Agnecy Mr. Husein Shanli emphasized the aspects of mutual cooperation, as well as positive traditions playing a significant role in strengthening friendly and partner relationships between two neighboring countries.

Director of the Garden Mr. Irakli Archaia awarded the representative of Tbilisi Office of Turkish International Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) at the Prime Minister’s Administration of the Republic of Turkey Mr. Husein Shanli with a special Diploma of Honor for the financial support allocated to plant protection project as well as the contribution made for the development of the Garden.

It is noteworthy that in the Call for Proposals announced by the Turkish International Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) in 2015 a project application supporting plant protection was made and won by the Head of Bio-Diversity Department of the Garden Ms. Miranda Tserodze. The project was funded with 23.659 USD, within the frame of which Batumi Botanical Garden was granted for targeted application the following equipment: 50 units of sprinkling equipment; biological pesticide (Bacillus thuringiensis) - 200 liter; trap for struggling against IPS TYPOGRAPHUS- 50 units; pheromone for struggling against IPS TYPOGRAPHUS – 100 units; information boards – 4 units.

As it was noted at the meeting, the cooperation already existing in the above-mentioned direction will be continued in the future as well.
