By the Invitation of National Association of Italian Botanical Gardens Francesco Maria Raimondo, Deputy Director of Batumi Botanical Garden Davit Kharazishvili and Head of Nursery Department of the Garden Givi Kldiashvili visited the Republic of Italy from August 15 – August 23.

In the frame of the business trip, the representatives of the Garden took part in the events of introduction with existing collections at various Botanical Gardens of Italy (Padova, Florence, Rome, Palermo, Catania), conservation and educational programs, principles of operating nursery economies, deepening scientific-research relations and future cooperation with leading specialists of Italian Botanical Gardens. An Agreement upon designing a Memorandum of Cooperation achieved with the Director of the Botanical Garden at “La Sapiensa” University, Rome, which presumably will be concluded by the end of the current year.

With the purpose of deepening educational-research relations and future cooperation, an Agreement was achieved with the Administration of Palermo Botanical Garden upon three-month internship of young specialists of Batumi Botanical Garden.

The decision upon organizing a visit of the Director of the Association of Italian Botanical Gardens and National Coordinator to Batumi Botanical Garden was taken (2019).

On previous day of the visit completion, with the support of Francesco Maria Raimondo a small expedition was organized on the Volcano Etna.

It is noteworthy that a decision upon organizing a working visit was taken during Francesco Maria Raimondo’s visit to the 105th Anniversary Conference of Batumi Botanical Ganden.
