Important visit to the United States of America

On June 10-23, Director of Batumi Botanical Garden Mr. Irakli Archaia and head of Local Flora and Conservation Department Mr. Davit Kharazishvili paid an official visit to Harvard University Arboretum in Boston (USA) by the invitation of the Director of the University Mr. Stephen Schneider.

The mission and objectives of International Plant Exchange Network (IPEN)

On June 21, Scientific Director of Munich- Nymphenburg Botanical Garden Doctor Andreas Gröger and Doctor Wolfram Lobin (Former Curator of Bohn University Botanical Garden, Emeritus Professor from 2017)  visited Batumi Botanical Garden, who during the visited participated in joint Botanical Expeditions in Ajara Forest eco-systems

Visit of a Foreign Colleague

Today, on June 16, Batumi Botanical Garden was visited by Professor Christian Corner from the Botany Institute at Baser University together with the representatives of the Botanical Institutions of our country.

On the same day, the guest made a presentation before the scientists from Batumi Botanical Garden and Shota Rustaveli Batumi State University on “Principles of plant phenology".

Julieta Jakeli Becomes an Academic Doctor of Biology

On May 27, 2017 the Dissertation Work “Bio-Ecological Peculiarities of the species protected with IUCN Red List of the World Flora and ex-situ conservation at Batumi Botanical Garden”  2017 was upheld at the Department of Biology at the Faculty of   Natural Sciences and Healthcare.

Biodiversity and Georgia

III International Conference “Biodiversity and Georgia” held at the Visitors’ Centre of the National Botanical Garden of Georgia was dedicated to the International Day for Biological Diversity. The conference was held on May 18-19, in which the personnel of Batumi Botanical Garden participated.  The conference consisted of the following 4 sessions:

Closer to Nature

Batumi Botanical Garden is continuing the project “Closer to Nature” this year as well, which was rather successfully implemented previous year. The project in its time was approved by the   IX International Congress on Education in Botanical Gardens (2015) (Missouri Botanical garden, Saint Luis, USA).
